A Place Set Apart
Montserrat is one of my favorite places on earth. While living in Spain as a volunteer missionary for my church, I got to visit Montserrat a handful of times and it's stunning. The site itself has been visited for about 1000 years and the church that stands there today continues to welcome tourists and pilgrims alike. This unique place had some underwhelming brand imagery that I felt I could improve on.
L'Orgull
Catalunya is known for being a very proud region. They honor and cherish their unique heritage, language, history, and culture. Given that Montserrat is one of Catalunya's cultural centers, it made sense to lean into the reds and yellows of the region. Additionally, I was delighted to find a unique form in the mountains that could be used to show an M. The four stripes of the logo also resemble the four stripes of the Catalan flag, known as the Senyera.
